North Carolina is always a good state for wine, though I’ll admit I tend to prefer their reds. So, when I picked up this wine I wasn’t expecting a whole lot really and was quite surprised at what I found. This Traminette wine had one of the best aromas I’ve had from a white in a while. Right from the start you get these beautiful herbal aromas with a hint of spice to it. You also get this lovely citrus smell to it all as well, though quite subtle to me. After you take a sip those subtle citrus aromas come through with this lovely spiciness to them. You also get a bit of some other fruit as well; I think it might possibly be apricot. That herbal quality comes through too, but this time a bit more subdued by the light sweetness of this wine. The finish was nice and long and was a bit drier then I had expected (and I do love dry wines). With this lovely white I had some tasty jambalaya, and I have to say it went quite nicely. I also think this wine would go great with spicy foods as well as some good thai or Indian food. So will you like it? Short answer, yes you will; especially if you are a fan of Rieslings or Gewurztraminer. Plus the price is great for a bottle of this stuff, so why not get yourself one.
If you would like to purchase this wine you can get it direct from the vineyard here or from Americanwinery.com here. Remember to make sure they can ship to your state.
